The Cartier Tank Louis Extra Plate 96019 is my favorite post-70s Extra Plate reference. Why? I love the clean profile with only the bar screws on the crown side. This particular example comes with the sought-after and very clean MK1 dial that carries the desirable Paris writing at the bottom. But what I love most about this example is the story of two friends behind it: A family friend from South Africa gifted the watch to Jerry as a heartfelt thank-you for his steadfast support during a hard-fought battle with throat cancer—a bond captured in the inscription on the case. Their enduring friendship survived the diagnosis, and the two continued to share cigars and good stories for the rest of their lives. Of all the pieces Jerry owned over the years, this was always his favorite. On top of that, you get the solid gold Cartier deployant and the full set. A rare set with history!

Condition
The case of the watch seems to be untouched; the screw heads, the bars, the lugs, and the caseback engravings are all in perfect condition. The crown is also in very good condition, and the crystal is flawless. The dial is in nearly perfect condition, while the hands show light patina. The solid gold period-correct deployant is very sharp, and the screw heads are not worn out from frequent changes. The watch has just been serviced by my watchmaker and runs flawlessly. You will get the watch on an old strap with the deployant, the box, and the papers.
