Patek Philippe
For its time, the 2450 from Patek Philippe was something special: back then, it was unusual to manufacture watch cases from a single piece. What is no longer a problem today was something very special at the time and was implemented in the form of the 2450 between 1948 and 1952: this is why it is often referred to as a monobloc. The complex case, consisting of the monobloc and a snap back, was designed by none other than Emile Vichet. The size was also unusual for the time: at 35 mm, the watch was very large by the standards of the day; today, 35-36 mm is the sweet spot for most watches. The cherry on top is the stunning enamel dial, which shows a natural patina but is still in very good condition for its age. What makes this piece special are the leaf hands, which are rather unusual for the 2450 but not uncommon for the time. What I also love: The back of the watch proudly carries an engraving, a reminder and part of the history of this nearly 80 years old piece of History.
