Patek Philippe
In 1989 Patek Philippe was celebrating its 150th anniversary, back then, Patek stated in their brochure: “For our 150th anniversary we have created eight new models to demonstrate our skills, standards and values. We would like to hope that future generations will look upon these eight models as the spirit of the days when people took pride in creating objects of precision and beauty.” One of the models released back then was the reference 3960: The Officer's watch. The idea was to get inspiration from the past: In the first world war officers were using hunter pocket watches strapped to their wrist to read the time quickly by looking on their wrist instead of pulling out their pocket watches. The 3960 has a Bassine-style case with screw bars and a Louis XV crown. The dial is white, carries a railway-track and Breguet numerals and hands, clear and simple. A total of 2000 were made in yellow gold, of which 250 are estimated to be returned to the market. So what you will get is a piece of Patek Philippe history and in this case it comes fullset, unworn, with purchase invoice from 1989 and the original strap tag.
